Why have a massage?
Gone is the sleazy image of back street massage parlors, often offering a service that had little to do with massage. Now we have entered the era of "bodywork" and the very up market "Spa". Health spas have burgeoned over the past decade and today no up-market hotel would dream of being without a "spa" geared to the fitness requirements of a very health conscious clientele.
At the top of the list of services offered by these "spas," is massage.
What can you expect then, when you go along for a massage for the first time? Firstly, the masseur of masseuse will be a qualified therapist who has spent a considerable amount of time and resources qualifying in this, their chosen field.
The massage rooms will be subtly and comfortably lighted and there will usually be soft music playing in the background. The therapist will welcome you and then invite you to undress and offer a warm towel so that there will be no need to feel any embarrassment.
You will notice that the room is pleasantly warm and at first it might feel it is overheated but as the massage progresses you will find that the temperature is exactly right to keep you comfortable.
Another thing that you will notice is the therapy room is generally spotlessly clean, the
decor will be tasteful and everything will have been designed to make you feel as
comfortable and at ease as possible. More often than not the therapist will use aromatherapy, or essential oils both to apply on you as the client and to scent the room. The oils will be specially selected to relax you and induce a sense of comfort and serenity. The oils are never applied directly onto the body as this is likely to cause a skin
reaction. Instead they will be mixed with a neutral base and applied in a dilute form
on the body.
In the case of a full body massage, the masseur will ask you to lie on your stomach and will start gently massaging the shoulders and upper regions. You will relax deeper and deeper as the massage progresses and all those knots and sore places which have come about as the result of stress and the rigors of every day life will gradually begin to disappear.
Very often the client will drift off in to a gentle doze as the massage progresses and will be gently brought back to wakefulness when the time comes to turn over and allow the front of the body to be kneaded and smoothed by the by the deft hands of the therapist.
When the massage is over the client will feel a heightened sense of relaxation and will more often than not float out of the body worker's room as if on air! This is a truly an experience that once enjoyed will cause the client to return time and again. Why? Because massage is one of the best means of combating the stresses and strains of a stressful world.

Top 10 Fitness Tips
Copyright 2005 strength-training-woman.com
"I don't exercise. If God wanted me to bend over, he'd have put diamonds on the floor," comments Joan Rivers. It's true, many of us simply do not enjoy fitness and exercising. It's also true that every single person in this world can benefit from a proper fitness and nutrition program.
Use these top 10 fitness tips to get your workout routine started today. As always, talk with your doctor before starting a new fitness or nutrition program.
Tip #1- Set Realistic and Tangible Goals
Simply stating that you want to lose weight is not effective. Be specific. For example, I want to lose 5 pounds of fat by February 14th.
Tip #2- Measure Your Progress
Take your base measurements and then re-take them on a regular basis. You cannot measure your progress if you have no idea where you started from.
Tip #3- Log Your Workouts
Each and every workout session should be logged. Keep all of your fitness logs in a binder and create your very own success journal.
Tip #4- Mix Up Your Cardio Workouts
Cardio sessions should vary in intensity and in length. Try new cardio activities and keep things fresh.
Tip #5- Strength Training Is Not Just for Men
Everyone should strength train. Strength training builds muscle and increases bone density. Train all major muscle groups 1-3 times per week.
Tip #6- Rest
Get 7-9 hours of deep sleep each and every night. Also rest your muscles by not working out 1-2 days each week.
Tip #7- Warm Up
Warm up for 5-10 minutes before every workout session. You should feel a rise in your body temperature.
Tip #8- Cool Down
Cool down by stretching out your entire body. This helps increase flexibility and decrease muscle soreness the next day.
Tip #9- Nutrition Is Half the Battle
Eating small meals throughout the day complements your fitness routine. Learn to eat healthy and kick diets out of your life forever.
Tip #10- Stay Motivated
Find a workout partner. Sign up for a marathon. Work with a personal trainer. Do whatever it takes to remain committed. If you falter, let go of guilt and get back on your routine as soon as possible.
These top10 fitness tips build the foundation of a safe and effective fitness program. Anyone can drop body fat and gain lean muscle mass by following a realistic workout and nutrition plan. Stay the course and you will be healthier and happier for it.
